Common name:California Gray Rush
Botanical name:Juncus patens

Although a wetland plant, Juncus patens can tolerate fairly dry conditions. It will slowly clump to 2'-3' wide and a height of 2'-2.5'. There are many selections of this species available with different heights and widths. It is carefree, with little to no maintenance. It provides great upright structure to many styles of landscapes.

This perennial will grow 5'-6' tall and has tiny flat leaves with greenish flowers at the center. It also produces fruit that appears golden and then turns to dark brown. Plant only in containers in shady locations for water conservation.

This perennial will grow 2'-4' tall and has large, glossy green leaves with beautiful cream or white flowers that bloom in spring and sometimes even summer.

Orange Clock Vine

This trailing evergreen vine produces large, clear orange flowers from spring through fall. It must be protected from frost and should be grown in areas of sun to part shade.

Tolleson's Weeping Juniper

Common name:Tolleson's Weeping Juniper
Botanical name:Juniperus scopulorum 'Tolleson's Weeping

This juniper has an upright form to about 12-24' depending upon growing conditions. What is unusual about this plant and makes it a fun specimen plant in the garden is its weeping habit which is rare in the juniper family. It is hardy and drought tolerant.
